Celebrity Youtube: Boyce Avenue

Kali ini saya ingin memperkenalkan band Youtube kegemaran saya - Boyce Avenue. Saya sebenarnya kurang pasti latar belakang kumpulan ini, cuma yang saya tahu penyanyi utamanya bernama Alejandro Manzano berusia 22 tahun dari Florida. Kumpulan ini pernah melakukan tour ke Filipina dan sudah memiliki album sulung mereka (hehe, saya sudah download).

Berbanding Alyssa Bernal, kebanyakkan lagu yang dimainkan oleh Boyce Avenue adalah lagu kegemaran saya. Lagu kegemaran bukan bermaksud sekadar lagu tetapi saya memang sudah hafal liriknya dan sentiasa berada dalam playlist WinAmp saya. Antaranya adalah: -

American Idol: Dope!

Ada sesiapa menonton American Idol kelmarin? Well, seperti mana yang kita semua tahu, keputusan bagi minggu ini sudah diumumkan (jangan risau bagi yang belum menonton kerana saya tidak akan memberikan spoiler di sini). Untuk pengetahuan anda, saya tidak menontonnya di kaca TV, kebanyakkan TV Series yang saya tontoni adalah hasil download di Internet kerana saya tidak sabar untuk menunggu dan paling penting saya tidak perlu menonton iklan (gosh, i hate commercial break).

Dalam banyak-banyak peserta nampaknya hanya seorang sahaja yang masih belum menampakkan kelemahan. Cuba teka siapa? Bukan Matt Giraud, bukan Kris Allen, bukan Anoop Desai dan yang paling penting bukan Danny Gokey. Jawapannya ialah Adam Lambert.

Setiap kali saya menonton persembahan beliau, bulu roma pasti rasa meremang. Minggu ini beliau dengan lagu Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. Walaupun minggu ini sepatutnya minggu Country Music, nampaknya tiada satu bahagian pun dalam persembahan beliau yang memiliki ciri-ciri Country. Jika anda menontonnya, ia seolah-olah anda berada di alam dark side atau underground night club.

Sepanjang pengalaman saya menonton American Idol, beliaulah satu-satunya peserta yang sukar untuk diberikan komen selepas kali beliau melakukan persembahan. Walaupun ianya bukanlah sesuatu yang buruk tetapi ianya sangat pelik. Jika beliau memenangi pertandingan kali ini, saya tidak langsung akan mengkritik keputusan tersebut kerana beliau sangat unik berbanding artis yang sedia ada dalam pasaran kini.

Berita baik, Anoop Desai (peserta kegemaran saya) sudah kembali dengan aksi mantap beliau. Minggu lalu merupakan persembahan paling buruk beliau apabila menyampaikan lagu Michael Jackson "Beat It". Lagu tersebut tidak sesuai dengan watak sebenar Anoop yang sebenarnya lebih selesa dengan genre "Blues" seperti juga Matt Giraud.

Pada saya persembahan minggu lalu sebenarnya adalah kesilapan judges yang memberikan nasihat yang salah kepada Anoop. Mereka mahukan Anoop terus dengan konsep lagu rancak seperti pada minggu Wildcard. Saya berharap beliau tidak terlalu mendengar nasihat judges yang mungkin menyebabkan beliau tersingkir sekali lagi.

Celebriti YouTube: Alyssa Bernal

Saban hari semakin ramai artis yang dilahirkan hasil dari teknologi Youtube yang kini berada pada ranking ke-3 berdasarkan jumlah pengunjung setiap hari. Jika anda peminat Marie Digby, anda mungkin tahu apa yang saya maksudkan. Saya meminati Marie sebelum beliau keluar dengan album pertamanya bertajuk "Unfold". Marie Digby mula terkenal apabila mendendangkan lagu Umbrella dan menerima sambutan yang menggalakkan. Shhh, saya meminati versi Marie Digby berbanding penyanyi asalnya Rihanna.



Saya tidak mahu bercerita panjang mengenai Marie Digby kerana saya pasti ramai yang sudah mengenainya terutamanya dengan kunjungan beliau ke Singapura dan Malaysia tahun lalu (saya tidak sempat pergi... isk... isk...).

Terbaru, saya menemui seorang lagi celebriti Youtube yang memiliki suara yang agak menakjubkan. Sebenarnya agak kebetulan saya menemui channel beliau apabila salah satu videonya menjadi featured video di Youtube.

Agak-agak ada rupa siapa? (siapa dapat teka memang hebat!)

Yang menariknya, video beliau menyanyikan lagu "I Kissed a Girl" dipertontonkan pada anugerah Oscar tahun ini. Saya pun tidak pasti samada ianya benar ataupun tidak kerana saya tidak menonton Oscar (hehe). Tetapi ianya tidak mustahil kerana video tersebut menerima hits lebih dari 3 juta pengunjung.



Selain lagu penyanyi wanita, beliau juga mampu membawakan lagu yang asalnya adalah dari penyanyi lelaki. Namun begitu, dalam video "I'm Your" ini Alyssa baru 5 bulan belajar bermain gitar; menurut sesetengah komen ianya agak sumbang sedikit tetapi saya tetap menyukainya.



Penilaian terakhir yang biasa saya lakukan kepada penyanyi baru adalah kebolehupayaan mereka menyanyikan lagu yang saya tidak pernah dengar sebelum ini dan menjadikannya salah sebuah lagu kegemaran saya. Dalam hal ini, Alyssa berjaya meyakinkan saya bahawa beliau benar-benar berbakat dengan mendendangkan lagu "Drive My Soul"

Estrella: Stay

Sudah agak lama sebenarnya saya mencari siapakah penyanyi lagu ini. Masalahnya bukan apa, kebanyakkan stesyen radio (Hitz, FlyFm, MixFM) mempunyai trend untuk tidak menyebut nama lagu yang dimainkan atau band mana yang menyanyikan lagu tersebut. Setelah beberapa bulan lagu tersebut berkumandang di radio barulah saya tahu siapakah yang menyanyikan lagu tersebut.

Sebenarnya apa yang menjadikan saya confuse adalah kerana saya beranggapan lagu ini dinyanyikan oleh band luar negara sehinggalah saya menjumpai profile mereka. Tambahan pula, ada perkataan 'twilight' dalam lirik lagu mereka (ingatkan OST untuk filem 'Twilight').

Berikut adalah sejarah Estrella: -

Formed in 2006, Estrella originally consisted of three members; Ashraf, Syariful Adzwan (Yob), and fronted by Liyana. In May 2006, the Troubaganger acoustic gig marked their first-ever performance, initially winning over the audience at cozy La Bodega KL. However, very soon after the three members were then reduced to the current two as Ashraf decided to leave the band for personal reasons.

Armed with their guitars and heartfelt tunes, Liyana and Yob began circulating the local music scene with their own brand of acoustic music. Numerous open-mic sessions and gigs at notable shows around town followed suit; namely Moonshine, Troubadours, Doppelganger, and No Black Tie, and the band began to generate more attention for the duo from both the audience and the organizers.

In June 2006, Estrella’s first single, ‘Take It Slow’ was featured in Troubadours’s “The Voices Next Door” compilation album, and the song was then taken by RedComm productions as part of the soundtrack for the SunSilk TV series Impian Illiyana which ran for 13 consecutive weeks. Gaining some pretty decent exposure in the media as well as the indie scene, friendships were also made with likeminded individuals and groups along the way, providing them with even more ideas and opportunity to grow musically.

Having captured the attention of the Laguna Music, Estrella further evolved their genre from indie jazz to a slightly more complex sound, with dreamy and spacey after-effects. Under the suggestion of Laguna Music Producer, Jeffrey Little, the strummers now became a light band - with members, Shamsul Idzwan on percussions and Jeffrey Little, himself on drums.

Making rounds at gigs around town as a full band, opening for Seven Collar T-shirt for their showcase ‘A Seven Collar Sonique Cinematique’ and performing at the annual KL Sing Song 2007 show alongside notable singer-songwriters like Azmyl Yunor, Pete Teo and Shanon Shah, gave the band ample media exposure and a good headstart.

Having worked their way to perfecting their existing and new material, Estrella’s self-titled album was released on the 28th of December 2007. Following the release of the album, Estrella released two singles, ‘Ternyata’ & ‘Stay’, to reach-out to both the Malay & English markets.

Everyday musings and inward thoughts are the main elements in their music, using simplicity as the main staple. Being so new to the scene, Estrella is simply going with the flow, and taking in stride whatever it is that comes their way. Keep you ears peeled for this act, they’re bound to reach and capture the hearts of music-enthusiasts everywhere.

Disebabkan ada komen yang agak negatif, saya ingin menjelaskan lebih lanjut mengapa saya meletakkan video YouTube di atas. First of all, saya memang menyukai lagu Katie Perry "I Kissed a Girl" dan kalau ada sesiapa yang tidak suka, itu bukan masalah saya. 

Kedua, saya letakkan 3 perkataan di atas iaitu "euwww, yuckss, PUKE!" yang menggambarkan saya tidak bersetuju dengan perlakuan mereka terutamanya dalam video "I Kissed A Boy". Saya rasa Encik/Cik TahuMenahu mungkin tidak pandai berbahasa Inggeris dan tidak faham maksud perkataan PUKE (muntah). 

Ketiga, saya letakkan disclaimer supaya jika anda seorang Islam konservatif yang tidak boleh melihat gambar-gambar homoseksual supaya tidak menonton video ini. Tambahan pula, saya tidak meletakkan perkataan "Marilah kita beramai-ramai menjadi gay/lesbian". Secara jujur, saya kurang gemar ada sesetengah umat Islam kononnya menegakkan syiar Islam tetapi disuruh menegur pemimpin yang terang-terangan melakukan kesilapan, takut pula kerana pemimpin tersebut ada banyak wang dan berkuasa. Hipokrit!

Saya ingin mengupas sedikit apa yang diperkatakan oleh Encik/Cik TahuMenahu. Saya menegur Pak Lah kerana beliau adalah pemimpin negara dan beliau menjadi lambang kepada negara Malaysia sebagai negara Islam (apakah salah kata-kata saya bahawa adalah tanggungjawab seorang suami untuk memimpin isterinya dan memakai tudung adalah suatu kewajipan yang dituntut dalam Islam?). Mengenai gambar bogel naik basikal itu bukan 100% bogel di mana anda sendiri tidak nampak bahagian depan penunggang basikal tersebut. Apa bezanya gambar tersebut dengan orang yang memakai bikini yang Encik/Cik TahuMenahu lihat dalam televisyen ataupun dalam majalah? 

Pada pendapat saya, anda benar-benar seorang Islam tulen yang tidak boleh melihat aurat manusia yang lain, jangan layari blog/website yang bukan berunsur Islamic kerana kebarangkalian untuk anda melihat gambar lelaki/wanita tidak menutup aurat adalah sangat tinggi.
